What is the color theme for the Prom? The colors for this year’s Prom are: Blues, Coral, Teal, and Copper

How much are tickets and how do I get tickets for the Prom?

NOTE:  If tickets sell out before April 28, this will be posted on our website and on our Facebook page.  Please do not wait until the last day to purchase your ticket especially if you are a senior!

*Members of the Planning Committee will be at the live ticket sales events; this is a great time to get any last questions answered and to meet the folks who host the Prom.

Is there a deadline for purchasing tickets?  Can I just get my tickets at the door on Prom night?

  • The deadline for purchasing tickets is Saturday, April 28th or until sold out, whichever is first.  After this date, no tickets will be sold to anyone for any reason.  Tickets will not be sold at the Prom.  Anyone arriving without having purchased a ticket will not be allowed access to the Prom
  • Seniors especially:  Buy your tickets early!  Tickets have sold out the past four years.  We periodically announce how many tickets are still available on our Facebook page: Timeless Homeschool Events.

We cannot stress this enough.  If you don’t have a ticket, you don’t have a ticket.  Please make sure you have purchased a ticket.  Do not depend on someone else to have purchased your ticket.  Tickets should be printed and brought with you to show at the door or you may show it on your smartphone.

Who can attend the Prom?  Do I have to be homeschooled?

  • All homeschoolers who are in high school (9th through 12th grade) regardless of church cover school or address are invited to attend T.H.E. Huntsville Homeschool Prom.  Additionally, a homeschooler may bring up to two non-homeschoolers as his or her guests.  Minimum age is 14 —-for a homeschooler or a guest.  No attendee may be older than 20 on Prom night.
  • Also, anyone who attended the Prom as a Senior and who graduated high school may attend the Prom the following year.  So, if you attended the 2017 Prom and graduated high school, you are invited to purchase a ticket and return for the 2018 Prom.  (And we’d love to see you again!)

Do I have to be a member of a certain church cover school or co-op group to attend Prom? T.H.E. Huntsville Homeschool Prom is an inclusive event; any homeschooler is invited regardless of church cover school.  We have a number of different church cover schools represented by members of our Planning Committee, and we have many different church cover schools represented by students attending the Prom.  We have had homeschool students come to the Prom from all over Alabama, including Toney, Elkmont, Albertsville, Florence, Birmingham, Montgomery…. and from Tennessee, Arkansas, and beyond!

I’d like to bring a guest, but I don’t know who it is yet.  How do I handle that? You or your guest can purchase a ticket on Ticket Leap whenever you decide who you’re inviting. You don’t have to buy your tickets at the same time. If your guest is homeschooled, purchase a regular ticket. If your guest isn’t homeschooled, purchase the non-homeschooler ticket and be sure to fill out your name when prompted under the question about who invited the guest.

Can my parents meet members of the Planning Committee to ask them questions face-to-face? Of course!  We are parents, too, and understand your parents may want to know who we are.  Planning Committee members will be at both the live ticket sales events (see “How much are tickets…”)  If you or your parents have concerns, we encourage you to come by and chat with us.

Do I have to have a date to attend Prom?  Do most kids come alone or with someone else? A date?  Absolutely not required!  Guests come with a group of friends, with one friend, with his/her siblings, cousins… or with a date.  Several church schools and co-ops have teens who come in a group.

Is there a dress code?  Is this a formal event? Yes, this special occasion is a formal event, an evening for dressing up!  Attire for ladies is formal, semi-formal, and special occasion dresses. For gentlemen, appropriate attire includes tuxedoes, suits, or dress pants with shirt, tie, and jacket.  Absolutely no jeans, t-shirts, or athletic shoes.
Dresses should be appropriately modest.  The Planning Committee leaves this decision to the ladies and their parents.  When shopping for your dress, please be sure to find something that is not only comfortable to wear but that will stay in place while dancing.
We do not allow any attire that in any way resembles or reflects violence, indecency, or anything illegal.  Anyone wearing such attire will be turned away at the door and will not be refunded for their ticket.

Can my parents stay to watch the Prom? No.  This is the teens’ special night not the parents’.   We parents had our prom chance some time ago…  We know that many teens come from out-of-town with their parents in order to attend T.H.E. Huntsville Homeschool Prom.  There are numerous options for parents to enjoy in the nearby downtown area before returning to pick up their teens at 11:00.

Will there be a professional photographer at the Prom?  Yes.  Photo packages will be $35.00 this year. They may be purchased in advance at Ticket Leap or may be purchased that evening with cash (exact change) or check.
Pictures will be mailed directly to you three to four weeks after Prom.  These formal photos will start at 6:00pm; the photographer will be taking singles, couples and small group photos.
We will also have a roving photographer taking fantastic candid photos during the night.  The candid photos will be posted via a link through our Facebook page shortly after Prom and will be available for purchase.

Speaking of photographs… Please note:  By purchasing a ticket and attending the Prom, each attendee acknowledges he/she will be photographed and video-taped for the purpose of sharing photo memories, social network sharing, in print, and for use by other attendees.

  - A navy Uni-sex shirt with this year's Prom design in gold ink on the front and THE logo on the back. Sizes S, M, L, XL, 2XL, and 3XL

T-shirt orders may be picked up the night of Prom from 7 - 11pm at a table near the DJ. All remaining T-shirts will be DONATED. Please make every effort to pick up your shirts the night of Prom!

What kind of music will be played at the Prom?  Can I make requests? Music for the Prom will be provided again this year by a professional DJ who will play a variety of songs.  There will be no profanity; “clean” or “radio” versions of songs will be played.  The Planning Committee (comprised of parents and teens) works closely with the DJ to ensure no offensive music is played.
Ticket purchasers may make song requests by sending an email to:  [email protected]. The Committee will consider all requests for appropriateness.

What will the evening be like?  Is there a schedule? Yes, there is a schedule.  Times are not absolute as of yet; this schedule will be updated as needed.

Will there be a Senior Promenade or slide show? Unfortunately, with the large number of seniors we now have attending T.H.E. Prom, we will not be able to have a promenade or a slide show.  Seniors will have a special Seniors’ only dance.

Will there be anything to eat at the Prom? Yes, there will be a chocolate fountain and other desserts. Lemonade and water will be available throughout the evening.

I heard there will be a Prom King and Prom Queen?  How are they selected?  Can I enter? All homeschool Seniors attending the Prom are eligible to participate in the drawing for King and Queen.  There will be a box at sign-in for Seniors to enter their name, if they desire.  At 9:30, one boy’s name will be drawn from the “King” box, one girl’s name from the “Queen” box, and the DJ will announce T.H.E. Huntsville Homeschool Prom 2018 King and Queen.  They are invited to share a dance and will receive a free ticket to the 2019 Prom!
***Please note:  A student may be considered a “Senior” only one year for the Prom King and Prom Queen drawing.  If you are a senior this year, but are not graduating until next year, please do not include yourself in the King/Queen drawing.

Will there be chaperones at the Prom? Yes, there will be chaperones at the Prom.  Chaperones are selected from adult volunteers at the sole discretion of the Planning Committee.  The majority of our chaperones have been volunteers with the Prom for several years.
Generally, only those involved with the Planning Committee are allowed to serve as chaperones.  If you would like to serve as a chaperone for the Fall Dance or the 2019 Prom, please contact [email protected]. If you have special needs, questions, or concerns, please contact us.
In addition to the chaperones the Planning Committee provides, we will also have a professional security guard, an employee of EarlyWorks Museum, who will be on site and have overall responsibility for the safety and security of all attendees of our event.

Are attendees allowed to come and go as they please?  Can I leave to run to McDonald’s (or anywhere) and return to the Prom?  No one is allowed to leave the building and return to the Prom.  Once an attendee or guest leaves the Prom, they are not allowed to return since it is out of the control of the Planning Committee and Chaperones as to what occurs while off site.
Everyone checks in as they arrive and must check out if they leave before 10:15.  Planning Committee members will contact the parents of anyone leaving during the Prom.

My parents would like to help somehow… what can they do?  The biggest thing parents (and teens) can do to help is to read these FAQs and adhere to these rules.  Read the terms on your ticket.  Once you purchase your ticket, you are bound by these rules.  If you have any questions, please ask us for clarification before Prom night –it gets kinda crazy that night!
Parents, if your teen enjoys the Prom, please consider joining the Committee next year and staying on board until all your children have graduate high school.  We truly want this event to become a long-standing tradition in our area.  If you would like to volunteer with Timeless Homeschool Events, Inc., please send us an email at T[email protected] and we will contact you.

Any other rules or guidelines I should know about?  As few as possible…. But, we do have to have some to keep the Prom a safe, secure and comfortable place for everyone.

  • T.H.E. Huntsville Homeschool Prom has a ZERO tolerance policy for any alcohol, drugs, smoking, or misconduct.  Our chaperones will escort anyone necessary from the dance and parents will be notified.
  • NO weapons, including any kind of gun or knife, of any sort, any kind, in any form are allowed on the premises for any reason whatsoever.
  • Public displays of affection are unacceptable.  This includes sitting on laps, making out, inappropriate dancing (grinding, moshing, dirty dancing, twerking, etc.)
  • Outside food and drink are not allowed.

Any complaints or concerns should be brought directly to a Planning Committee member or Chaperone.

Enjoy yourself and be considerate of everyone else!

Ack!  I still have questions….

We can still help!  Please send any unanswered questions or concerns to [email protected]
